FAQ — General Chiropractic Questions
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes. Chiropractic is one of the safest non-invasive, drug-free treatments available for musculoskeletal pain and nervous system conditions. Dr. Hayden uses gentle, precise techniques tailored to each patient — including modified approaches for pregnant women, children, and seniors.
How does chiropractic work?
Your spine protects your nervous system — the master control system of your entire body. When spinal misalignments (called subluxations) put pressure on nerves, it interferes with your body's ability to function and heal properly. Chiropractic adjustments correct those misalignments and restore normal nervous system function.
Is chiropractic just for back pain?
No. While back pain is one of the most common reasons people visit us, chiropractic care also helps with neck pain, headaches, sciatica, joint pain, posture issues, pregnancy discomfort, sports injuries, and overall wellness. The nervous system affects everything.
FAQ — Questions About Adjustments & Treatment
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most patients feel immediate relief, not pain. You may hear a popping sound — that's simply gas releasing from the joint, similar to cracking your knuckles. Dr. Hayden uses gentle techniques and always adjusts his approach to your comfort level.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your condition, how long you've had it, and your health goals. After your initial examination, Dr. Hayden will present a personalized care plan with a clear timeline. Some patients feel significant improvement in just a few visits; others with chronic or complex conditions benefit from a longer corrective plan.
What's the difference between pain relief and corrective care?
Pain relief addresses symptoms — it gets you feeling better quickly. Corrective care goes deeper — it fixes the structural and neurological cause of the problem so it doesn't keep coming back. At Chiropractic Memphis Downtown, we focus on corrective care because lasting results require lasting changes.

FAQ — Questions About Specific Conditions
Can chiropractic help my specific condition?
We treat a wide range of conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, posture and scoliosis, whiplash, knee pain, neuropathy, pregnancy discomfort, and sports injuries. If you're unsure whether we can help, call us — Dr. Hayden is happy to discuss your situation before you book.
Can chiropractic help after a car accident?
Absolutely. Auto accident injuries like whiplash, spinal misalignment, and soft tissue damage often don't show symptoms immediately. We recommend being evaluated within 72 hours of any collision. We provide full documentation for insurance and personal injury claims.
FAQ — Questions About SoftWave Therapy
What is SoftWave Therapy?
SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Therapy is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to activate your body's stem cells, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing at the cellular level. It's effective for knee pain, shoulder injuries, neuropathy, plantar fasciitis, disc injuries, and chronic pain.
Is SoftWave the same as shockwave therapy?
SoftWave uses unfocused acoustic waves — a broader, gentler approach than traditional focused shockwave. It treats a larger area of tissue and activates a deeper healing response without the sharp discomfort associated with older shockwave devices.
How much does SoftWave cost?
We offer a $59 SoftWave Discovery Day — a 20–25 minute introductory session where Dr. Hayden assesses your condition and determines if SoftWave is right for you. Most patients feel improvement during their very first session.
